Conversation Series 130 – Quincy Bingham

September 27, 2024 @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm

Greetings, Contrabandits!

The next live conversation on race (our hundred-and-thirtieth Conversation Series event) is happening on Friday, the 27th of September at 7:30pm ET with guest Quincy Bingham!

I’m excited to bring you all my next live conversation on race with Quincy Bingham, another person I randomly engaged in conversation with by way of X (formerly Twitter). I can’t recall the actual conversation Quincy and I engaged in because our follow up pre-Zoom Conference overshadowed anything that happened on X! Quincy is a racialized black man born in Jackson, Mississippi, a city with a long history of white supremacy, but in his 39 years of life he only started thinking about race in the year 2020 with the advent of the BLM movement. Hearing Quincy tell it, it was white liberals attempting to convince him that he was oppressed because of his racial category that angered him to the point of hatred and inspired him to jump into the fray of talking and writing about racism (https://quincylsb.medium.com/). I don’t want to give too much away, but we had a very interesting and inspiring conversation on Zoom about the similarities and differences in our upbringings and evolution of race consciousness that I think will be very interesting to the audience. I hope you’ll come and bring your questions and comments to the chat. Don’t miss this exciting conversation!
