Conversation Series – RiShawn Biddle
During this conversation, I will talk with RiShawn Biddle, a journalist who has been published in Forbes and the Indianapolis Star and currently works in education policy as a communications consultant. We will discuss the intersection of race and education, particularly how his mindset changed from a proponent of school choice mindset to one that sees white supremacy as a barrier to most education policy advancements. In addition we will talk about growing up with the idea that we live in a post-racial America, the relationship between the criminal justice system and the public school system, what culturally relevant education means, how MLK’s white moderates are manifesting in 2021, self-determination as a goal for the Black community, and the long history of conflict between the Bureau of Tribal Education and the Federal Government.
