(#47) Speaker Series: The Intersection of Race & Housing [Online Event]

December 16, 2020 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

*The group discussion starts at 7pm, but you can arrive up to 15 minutes early to make sure your technology is working. The Zoom link will be made available to everyone that RSVPs for this event.

During our seventh Speaker Series event, we will focus on the intersection of race and housing.

What role have policies like red lining played in contributing to a racially divisive environment? Is the relationship between housing accessibility and economic success a strong correlation? Is it causal? What role can unions play in bridging the racial housing gap between Black Americans and other racial groups? These are just some of the questions I hope to explore during this event.

Introducing our esteemed group of speakers:

(1) Nick Cotter – Data Analyst

(2) Brian Grady – Housing Coordinator

(3) James Reid – Senior Research & Funding Analyst

Each speaker will have up to 15 minutes each to speak about their work, observations, and experiences regarding the intersection of race and housing. Then attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions directly of our panelists either through chat or via microphone.

The group discussion starts at 7pm, but you can arrive up to 15 minutes early to make sure your technology is working. The Zoom link will be made available to everyone that RSVPs for this event. If the link is not working on this page (or you can’t find it on the right hand side of this event page), please check our Facebook Page “Racism Discussion Group” where this event is also posted (please consider liking the page as well). There is a 100-person limit to the number of attendees, so please revise your RSVP if you cannot attend to allow people who may end up on the wait list to get a chance. We hope to see you there!
